MARINETTE — A Peshtigo man was sentenced to prison for a strangulation and suffocation charge.

Nicholas A. Watkins, 30, was sentenced Monday in Marinette County Circuit Court Branch 1 to two years in prison for strangulation and suffocation — domestic abuse related. He also received a six-month prison sentence for intentionally pointing a firearm at a person. Those charges will run concurrently and be followed by three years extended supervision.

The following misdemeanor charges were dismissed, but read in at sentencing: domestic abuse, two counts of battery, disorderly conduct and operate firearm while intoxicated.

The crimes happened on Dec. 6, 2018.
