MENOMINEE — A 29-year-old Menominee County man died in a one-vehicle crash late Saturday night.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office reports that Luis Angel Maldonado Rosario, Daggett, died at the scene after his four-door passenger car crossed U.S. 41, entered the opposite ditch and struck several trees. Officers responded at 11:17 p.m. Maldonado Rosario’s car was northbound on U.S. 41, near Belgiumtown Road.

Speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, according to an investigation done by the sheriff’s office. Deputies and an accident investigator from the sheriff’s office were assisted by the Daggett Township Fire Department, Mid-County Rescue Squad and Extrication and the Michigan State Police.

The victim was traveling alone.
