MARINETTE — Marinette High School is holding its first showcase Wednesday to promote the Marinette school district. Principal Justine Braatz said that Marinette is striving to become a destination district.

“New families and businesses are moving into Marinette due to our community’s awesome effort to make it a great place to work and live. We want Marinette School District to be the district of choice as they move to the area,” she said.

She said that the three-hour event is the district’s way of showcasing everything Marinette has to offer to students, families and all community members.

Beginning at 4 p.m., people will be able to have a look at the classes offered in Marinette schools. At 5 p.m., all of Marinette’s extracurricular activities, co-curricular activities, clubs and programs will be on display.

After that, attendees are invited to “enjoy free food from Chartwells, participate in a parent/student dodge ball game and win prizes while doing it.”

Adults will be able to win prizes by filling out a passport. They’ll have to visit six locations between 4 and 6 p.m. to fill it. Students who participate will earn tickets for each event that they participate in, and winners will be chosen Thursday during lunch periods.

“We’re very proud of our hard work and the positive changes we have made,” Braatz said, “This is our way of connecting our staff, students, families, community members and local businesses in a comfortable school atmosphere.”

This will be Marinette High School’s first showcase of this kind, and Braatz hopes that this will become an annual event.
