Church to hold soup supper Tuesdays
POTERFIELD — Porterfield Lutheran Church, N6075 County Trunk E, invites the public to partake of free homemade soup at their Soup Supper held every Tuesday from Feb. 20 to March 13 at 5:30 p.m., with a short sung worship service at 6.
Congregations to hold Lenten series
MENOMINEE — The Bethel and Emmanuel Lutheran congregations will hold a series of midweek Lenten services to be held at Bethel, 13th Street and 14th Avenue, Wednesdays at 6 p.m. The 1½-hour long services under the theme, “Batism’s call to discipleship” will focus on the gifts and promises of baptism expressed in the rite of Affirmation of Baptism and is designed to explain how our baptism is a call to discipleship. Participating ministers will be the Rev. James Duehring, Assistant to the Bishop of the ELCA’s Northern Great Lakes Synod; the Rev. Craig Mansur, BAMC Chaplain; the Rev. Doug Schoen, retired; the Rev. Mark Laatsch, Pastor of Emmanuel; and the Rev. Scott Ehle, Pastor of Bethel.
The public is invited to the worship services and soup suppers, served by the church youth, in Bethel’s fellowship hall every Wednesday. The facility is handicap accessible.
YMCA fundraiser to be held Saturday
MENOMINEE — The Greater Marinette-Menominee YMCA will have their Kick Off for Kids raffle fundraiser at the Pullman House, N2190 US 41, Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be food, refreshments, raffles and a variety of prizes. Tickets cost $20 for two persons and can be purchased from staff and board members of the YMCA.
Church to celebrate Sunday Eucharistic
MENOMINEE — Grace Church, 922 10th Ave., invites the public to celebrate Sunday Eucharistic, Feb. 25, at 9:30 a.m. The Bishop will be in attendance and coffee will be available afterwards.
World Day of Prayer to be held March 2
STEPHENSON — The Stephenson United Methodist Church, Railroad Street, will hold its service in commemoration of “World Day of Prayer” March 2 at 1 p.m. World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer the first Friday in March each year. This year women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate this common day of prayer as the women of Suriname call to worship, under the theme “All God’s Creation is Very Good,” and share Suriname’s history and rich cultural diversity.
