Friends of library to hold annual fruit sale

WAUSAUKEE — The Friends of Wausaukee Library will take orders for its annual fundraiser fruit sale. The sale runs until Feb. 26.

Apples and pear crops are supplied from Washington and Oregon. Grapefruit comes from Texas and California and oranges from California. 

Order can be placed at the library in Wausaukee Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or with a member of the Friends Group. People may call 920-838-4849 for more information. Payment needed when ordering.

Fruit distribution will be March 18 from noon to 5 p.m. in the hallway entrance at the south entrance to the library, Main Street, Wausaukee.

STAA students raise money for service dog

MARINETTE — Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy student’s set out to help a deaf individual who was a 1978 graduate of Catholic Central High School raise money for her future NEADS Service Dog.

With the help of community members and school supporters, students had just one week to reach a goal of $500. They more than doubled that goal, being rewarded with the opportunity to throw pie in the face of their principal, and two teachers at the Catholic Schools Week all-school assembly this past Friday. The total amount raised was $1,025.26.

NEADS World Class Service Dogs has trained over 1,800 service dogs for deaf and disabled Americans.
