Red Hat Society to hold Mardi Gras event

MARINETTE — The Majestic Rubies & Roses Red Hat Society will gather for a Mardis Gras bingo Feb. 19 at Loopy's II, W1911 Flame Road, with cocktails at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. Attendees will order off of the menu. 

There will be prizes for best dressed as attendees are encouraged to dress up in full Mardi Gras attire. People are asked to bring brown sealed bags with prizes inside for bingo. If people win a bing, they select a prize from the table or take a bag from someone else. Whoever finds the "baby king" will win the grand prize. 

People are asked to RSVP by Feb. 17.

Twin City Squares to hold dance Sunday

MARINETTE — The Twin City Squares will hold a dance Sunday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Merryman School, 611 Elizabeth Ave. The caller will be Dominic Gruetzmacher. Members are asked to bring either soup or sandwiches for the supper after the dance. The lunch committee will provide dessert.

There will not be a workshop before this dance.

Former residents to serve on national board

Kody and Kyle Klumb of Marinette have been selected to serve as Student Committee Members on the National Executive Board for the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society based in Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama. The Klumbs will represent the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where they are current representatives of the universities Phi Eta Sigma Chapter Executive Board. Kody is co-president, and Kyle is treasurer.

Both Klumbs were previous Phi Eta Sigma Midwest Area Regional Conference Coordinators in which they were responsible for planning the "Leap into Leadership" Conference hosted by UW-Green Bay this past fall. Phi Eta Sigma students from across the nation attended.

Klumbs experience will assist them in their new roles as they will now be involved in the planning of the National Conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas, this September. The rest of their time will be focused on leadership and development within the organization including the potential of international expansion.
