Collaborative to hold Father's Fair

MENOMINEE — The Great Start Collaborative of Menominee County will sponsor a Father’s Fair for Menominee County fathers or father figures with children up to the age of 5 Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the YMCA on West Drive.

There will be activities, prizes, snacks and interactive tools to create the same activities at home. There will also be open swimming from 7 to 7:30.

This event is limited to 50 families. People may register today by calling 906-863-5665, ext.1028.

Moose Lodge to hold Italian night

MARINETTE — The Marinette Moose Lodge will host an event “One and a Half Italian Night” Jan. 25 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Mario Pisani, born in Lucca, Italy, Province of Tuscany, who came to America in 1957 at the age of 7 will be the chef of the night. He will make an all-day spaghetti sauce using his family's recipe and will have many different types of pasta. He will also make Italian sausage. The dinner will also feature an authentic Italian tossed salad and garlic bread.

"This is not Ragu. Come and enjoy the real thing," Pisani said. 

The cost will be $10 per adult and $5 per child six years and older. Children younger than six eat for free.

Proceeds will go to Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy, so this night is also a fundraiser. The athletic club from STAA will have raffles throughout the night. The event will be open to the public.

STAA receives $500 grant

MARINETTE — Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy (STAA) was the recipient of a grant from Catholic Financial Life, Chapter 317, located in Crivitz and Coleman. Darrell and Jane Monfils, of Chapter 317, presented a check for $500 to Principal Mike Cattani. The funds will be used for tuition assistance.

STAA offers students the opportunity to work to their highest potential and to learn in a faith-filled environment. Small class sizes enable individual attention for each student and many extracurricular activities and athletics add to a well-rounded education.

STAA is open to students of all backgrounds, ethnicity and faith. Spaces are available for the coming year from Pre-K 3 and 4 years through high school.
