Community baby shower offered to fathers

MENOMINEE —The Great Start Collaborative of Menominee County is offering a free community baby shower for expecting fathers Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Menominee County Intermediate School District, 1201 41st Ave, Menominee.

This event is completely free and will include dinner, games, baby care education and lots of giveaways such as diapers, pack-n-plays, sleep sacks, strollers and more. This event is limited to 20 expecting fathers and one guest. Priority will be given to first time expecting Menominee County fathers.

Sophomore to attend leadership seminar

PESHTIGO — Colin McMahon, a sophomore at Peshtigo High School, son of Amy and Brian McMahon, has been selected as the Peshtigo High School representative to attend the Wisconsin Leadership Seminar at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis., from June 12-14.

This weekend consists of team-building activities, motivational speakers, community service, a talent show, college fair, panel discussions made up of key leaders in business and industry, small group discussions and more. The Wisconsin Leadership Seminar encourages leadership development through emphasis on personal responsibility, volunteerism, increased awareness of social issues and open-minded analysis of all sides of an issue when making decisions.

McMahon was chosen by the faculty of Peshtigo High School on the basis of his involvement in school and community activities and leadership qualities.

Volunteer services to hold bake sale

MARINETTE — The Bay Area Volunteer Services will host a "We bake it, you take it" sale featuring homemade bakery and a cookie walk Friday from 8 to noon in the main lobby of Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area. 

Breads, cakes, pies, bars, cookies and other things will be for sale. Proceeds from this sale will be added to its treasury where monies are used to provide medical scholarships and to purchase items for the comfort of patients and their families.
