Santa's mailbox to open

MENOMINEE — Santa has set up a mailbox at the Menominee Recreation Department. Children of any age are welcome to mail their letters to Santa in care of the Recreation Department and Santa will mail a reply. Santa’s mailbox will open today and letters must be received by Dec. 16 in order to give Santa plenty of time to respond. Program is free, but make sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with your letter. People may mail their letter to: Santa’s Mailbox, Attn: Rec. Dept., 2515 10th Street, Menominee, MI 49858.

CAWC fundraisers were successful

CRIVTIZ — The Crivitz Area Woman’s Club (CAWC) recently held two fundraisers with the proceeds to be directed back into the community.

The first event was pet photos taken with Santa Nov. 2 at the Crivitz Veterinary Hospital. There were many donations of nonperishable human or pet food brought in to assist the Crivitz Veterinary Hospital with its food drive. These donations were matched pound for pound and directed to the Crivitz Food Pantry.

Next, a Holiday Auction and Boutique was held Nov. 7 at the Crivitz Village Hall. There were raffles, auctions and free food and drink. Local businesses provided many of the prize baskets. More than 100 guests attended and did some early holiday shopping and bidding as Henry Yoap served as the auctioneer.

Woman's club held brownie activity night

MENOMINEE — The GFWC Menominee Woman's Club held a "Friendship Brownies" night where members and guests made jars full of dry ingredients for brownies.

After having a sloppy joe supper, the ladies layered the dry ingredients making a landscape of colors. The jars were topped off with festive fabric circles and sparkly ties strung through a card listing the wet ingredients to add when baking these "Friendship Brownies. "

The next general meeting is at Riverside Golf Club at noon Dec. 4.

The mission of GFWC Menominee is volunteerism. All area women are welcome to participate.
