Church to host Thanksgiving dinner

MARINETTE — The public is invited to a community Thanksgiving dinner, hosted by Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1600 University Drive.

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Nov. 28. Families, seniors and anyone interested in spending Thanksgiving with community members are welcome.

There is no charge for the meal, no reservations are needed, but donations are appreciated. This dinner also provides people with the opportunity to reach out in thankfulness by volunteering their time. To volunteer, or make a contribution, people may call the church at 715-735-3101.

Final town hall tour offered

MIDDLE INLET — Northwood's Apostolic Church of Crivitz will hold it's final Fall Town Hall tour Sunday at the Middle Inlet Town Hall, W70901 County Trunk X. The service will begin at 10 a.m. and will conclude with a potluck lunch.

Literacy council seeks volunteers

OCONTO — The Marinette & Oconto Counties Literacy Council is holding a workshop to train volunteers to help adults learn to read and write or speak English. The workshop is Nov. 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farnsworth Library, 715 Main St. 

The time commitment to be on the council is about one day a week, with time off allowed for vacations, etc.

Twin City Sqaures to hold dance

MARINETTE — The Twin City Squares will hold a dance on their winter schedule Sunday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Merryman School, 611 Elizabeth Ave. The caller will be Mary Prisco. The supper after the dance will be a Thanksgiving-themed pot luck. The lunch committee will provide dessert.

There will be square dance lessons from 1 to 2 p.m. before the dance. Angels are always needed for lessons. New dancers are welcome to join this series of lessons.
