Spies Public Library to host book sale

MENOMINEE — The Friends of Spies Library will hold a book sale Thursday from noon to 6, Nov. 1 from noon to 5 and Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Spies Public Library, 940 1st St. Donations are appreciated and can be brought to the library at any time. Proceeds from the book sale are used to support children’s programming at the Spies Public Library.

VFW to host gun and knife show

CRIVITZ — The VFW Post 2063 Gun and Knife Show will be held Nov. 2 at the Crivitz Village Hall. Setup time for dealers is 7 to 8 a.m. with show times from 8 to 2 p.m. There will also be food and refreshments available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting various veteran organizations. Admission is $5 for people ages 12 and older.

Thirty-two, eight-foot display tables will be available for $10 each for the day. Dealers are asked to furnish their own table covers and to stay until the show is over at 2 p.m. Table reservations can be made to Larry Lundberg at 715-854-2672.

Strength training starts in November

PESHTIGO — UW-Extension Health and Well-Being Educator Stephanie Nault will offer a second series of an evidenced-based strength training program for middle-aged and older adults called Strong Bodies. Classes will be offered in Peshtigo at the Drees Community Center from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. starting the week of Nov. 4. Classes will be held twice weekly, and each class includes progressive weight training, flexibility and balance activities. The cost of this program is free due to the sponsorship of the City of Peshtigo Park and Recreation.
