Senior center offers free hearing tests

MARINETTE — The Marinette Senior Center, 1603 Ludington St., will host Paul Ebben, a board-certified hearing care professional at Hearing Life, Tuesday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Ebben will give free hearing screenings. Advance registration is not necessary but preferred.

Dog obedience classes to begin

MARINETTE — The Tri-County Dog Training Academy will begin its dog obedience classes Tuesday at the Marinette Armory, 2000 Mary St. Orientation will take place at 7 p.m. with registration starting at 6:30.

Advanced registration is suggested as classes fill up. Dogs do not attend orientation night. Classes with dogs will begin Sept. 17. The academy offers three levels of classes; Puppy at 6 p.m., Beginner at 7 and Advanced at 8.

Twin City Squares to hold dance

MARINETTE — The Twin City Squares will hold a dance Sunday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Merryman School, 611 Elizabeth Ave. The caller will be Mike Seurer. The lunch after the dance will be sloppy joes. The meat and buns will be provided. The lunch committee will provide dessert. Members should bring food to go with the sloppy joes.

This is the New Dancers dance. Anyone interested in trying square dancing is invited to attend. Beginner lessons will also be held Sept. 15 and 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Sept. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m. before the dance.

Woman's Club begins fall session

MARINETTE — The Marinette Woman's Club will hold its fall membership coffee at the home of Ruth Thielen, 2207 6th St., Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All area women interested in joining and learning about the club and its members are invited to attend. The Woman's Club meets for lunch the first Wednesday of each month with a variety of programs featured. The first meeting for this year will be at Little River Country Club, N2235 Shore Drive on Oct. 2.

Drug awareness fundraiser to be held

MENOMINEE — The annual Hugh Bretl Drug Awareness Fundraiser will be held at the Legion Post, 818 1st St., Saturday, with raffles beginning at 2 p.m. with dinner from 5 to 7. Dinner will be chicken and lasagna. Entertainment for the night will be provided by DJ Randy Kelma starting at 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Healthy Youth Coalition.

Entry fee is $15 for one person; children 5 and younger eat for free. The fee includes dinner and entry in the door prizes.
