Silent auction for lighthouses to be held

MENOMINEE — The MAAC Lighthouse Challenge has 23 outdoor lighthouses and 45 indoor lighthouses, which are available for purchase in the silent auction. Bids for all items must be made by July 24 at 4 p.m. Bidding takes place Tuesdays through Sundays between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 962 1st St., the former bank building. All artists and bid winners are invited to a reception July 27 at 10 a.m. Purchased items can be paid for and picked up at that time. 

Caregiver support group to meet Monday

CRIVITZ — The first Caregiver Connection support group will meet Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Northwoods Senior Café. This is a support group dedicated to all caregivers to come take a break in a relaxing and confidential environment, gain new ideas and empowerment, improve coping skills, and reduce stress, anxiety and fatigue.

Mid-County Rescue Squad receives grant

TROY, Mich. — Flagstar has announced a second round of grants to nonprofits in those communities. With this second investment, Flagstar will be contributing a total of $440,000 in grants to 85 nonprofits in its new markets in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ohio. The Mid-County Rescue Squad in Stephenson received one of these grants.

In the first phase of Flagstar Crafts Community, nonprofits were nominated locally and voted on by the public in Flagstar’s new markets. The organizations that attracted the most votes received $5,000 grants for a total investment of $260,000 by Flagstar. In the second phase, an additional $180,000 in $5,000 grants is being awarded to local nonprofits in these same markets. The recipients are organizations that placed second in the voting in phase one that also have charitable priorities that align closely with those of the Flagstar Foundation.
