Art exhibit, reception to be held at Spies 

MENOMINEE — The annual art exhibit, "The Beauty of Menominee, Marinette and Peshtigo" will be on display at the Spies Public Library from Tuesday until Aug. 19. The public is invited to attend a reception to meet the artists Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibit will be available to view during regular library hours, Monday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. "The Beauty of Menominee, Marinette and Peshtigo" is sponsored by the GFWC Menominee Woman’s Club and the Spies Public Library. Kite workshop for recognition to be held

STEPHENSON — Stephenson Elementary School is hosting "Soar with the Eagles Day" Friday with a kite-flying workshop. The workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and will go until 11 — and kites will be flown from noon to 2 p.m. This workshop is being put on by the kindergarten through fifth-grade students and teachers to recognize and acknowledge the work they did this school year. 

Parent and student volunteers will assist local kitemaker, Dick Ross, guide the students in making their own kite and help them launch and fly their kites.

Linda Godfrey to visit Stephenson Public Library

MARINETTE — Linda S. Godfrey will be at the Stephenson Public Library in Marinette Friday at 3:30 p.m. Godfrey is an author and investigator of modern-day monsters. Her newest book, "I Know What I Saw," will be out in July. The public is invited to this free informational session to learn more about Godfrey’s writing and publishing journey. This event is co-sponsored by the Stephenson Public Library and the Marinette/Menominee Bigfoot Convention. Several of Godfrey’s books will be for sale following the presentation.
