Local nonprofits receive $5,000 grant

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Flagstar Bank hosted a breakfast reception and check presentation event Tuesday to award 18 nonprofits with a $5,000 check and a $90,000 commitment to the UP/Northern Wisconsin community. The nonprofits were selected by the community following the launch of the Flagstar Crafts Community initiative April 4.

The DAR Boys and Girls club received the grant and said that the funds will help support its After School Adventure program. River Cities Habitat for Humanity also received a grant. River Cities Habitat for Humanity provides affordable housing for families in need while making an impact in the community. They are currently working on renovating a single-family home in Marinette, hoping to complete by this summer.
