Woman’s club to hold monthly meeting

MARINETTE — The Marinette Woman’s Club will meet at noon Wednesday for their monthly meeting at Little River Country Club. The menu is mac and cheese, fish, green bean casserole and dessert. The cost of the meal is at noon. The program will be presented by Diane King on “Flower and Garden Ideas.” 

All area women are invited to attend. People may call Joan Decker at 715-735-9571 for reservations by Sunday. Attendees are reminded to bring school supplies.

Our Savior’s quilters to meet Thursday

MARINETTE — Our Savior’s Lutheran quilter’s group will assemble in the church hall, University Drive and Pierce Avenue Thursday to continue their winter season. Their schedule is to meet the first and third Thursdays each month at 8 a.m. Volunteers are welcome.

The work includes jobs for a variety of talents, sewing and non-sewing. The finished quilts are donated to local charities and the Lutheran World Relief. Donations of material are welcome.

Local OCC updates community

Operation Christmas Child boxes packed from Wisconsin have been handled at the Minneapolis Processing center in recent years. However, in 2019 the regional processing center has recently been moved to Chicago. This year the boxes totaled 120,252 for Wisconsin and were sent to Belize, Botswana, Jamaica, Chili, Guyana, South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Uruguay, Mongolia, Gabon, Niger and hard to reach undisclosed areas. The regional area (from Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Chicago, Iowa and North and South Dakota) totaled 526,850. U.S. boxes numbered 8.8 million for 2018 and internationally the amount was 10.6 boxes.
