Food law workshop postponed
MENOMINEE — The Michigan State University Extension Cottage Food Law Workshop originally scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until Feb. 7 because of inclement weather forecasts. The workshop will cover what is allowed under the law, what the food safety considerations are, how to prepare a home workspace when producing under the law and how to label and market product. It will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Menominee ISD Building.

American Legion announces events
MENOMINEE — The Menominee American Legion will have the following events at the American Legion, 818 1st St.:
¦ Saturday: A Jamboree starting at 1 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
¦ Feb. 9: A Venison Stew meal starting at 5 p.m. There is no charge and all Legion, SALS, Auxiliary and guests are welcome
¦ Feb. 27: A potluck starting at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to pass.
Opera House Committee to meet
MENOMINEE — The Menominee Opera House Committee will hold its annual meeting Tuesday at Riverside Golf Club. There will be a cash bar and attendees may order off of a limited menu. Cocktails will be at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6.
After dinner, a brief business meeting will be held and the directors and officers of the group will be selected. A narrated slide show about prominent lumberman J.W. Wells and his contributions to the City of Menominee will be presented by Mike Kaufman. The public is welcome to attend.
Women’s club to hold monthly meeting 
MARINETTE — The Marinette Women’s Club will meet at noon Feb. 6 for its monthly meeting at the Little River Country Club. The menu consists of Chef salad with breadsticks at a cost of $12. The program will be presented by Linda Oksa about “Healthy Eating.”

Veterans Service officer to hold hours
HERMANSVILLE — Menominee County Veterans Service Officer Mike Dellisse will hold office hours at the legion hall Feb. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. Veterans or widows who need assistance, have claims, have questions about Agent Orange, headstones, grave markers; or need information about the Oscar Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain or the Michigan Trust Fund for Menominee County, should see Dellisse. This is a free service.
