Guided snowshoe hikes offered
PESHTIGO — The Peshtigo Parks and Recreation Department has set two dates for the guided snowshoe hikes in Peshtigo River Rec Park. The dates are Thursday at 5 p.m., and Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. The hikes will last approximately 60 minutes, and are suitable for children to adults.
The hikes will be led by Anne Bartels, the information and education specialist in the Marinette County Land Information Department.
People can call Peshtigo City Hall at 715-582-3041 to reserve a spot since space is limited. If people need shoes, they will be asked for shoe size and approximate height. People are asked to bring their own illumination device if they plan to attend the evening hike. There is no cost for this event.
Sons of Union veterans schedule meeting
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Camp 266 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold their bi-monthly meeting Saturday at 1 p.m. in the old board room at the Jacobetti Veterans Home in Marquette. The room is on the lower level of the home and easily accessible from the rear parking lot.
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the men who fought and worked to save the Union. Camp 266 includes members from across the Upper Peninsula. The focus of the camp is locating, marking and maintaining graves of Civil War veterans as well as researching Civil War history.

Library to host family fun day 
STEPHENSON — The Menominee County Library is holding a “Beat Cabin Fever with Family Fun” day Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. They will have crafts, activities, game, prizes and snacks. There will be family-friendly board games set up to play or check out if families would like to bring them home.
Registering for this event is encouraged so the library can plan accordingly, but it’s not mandatory.
