Square dancers to hold Luau

MARINETTE — The Twin City Squares will hold a Hawaiian-themed dance Sunday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Merryman School, 611 Elizabeth Ave., Marinette. The caller will be Amanda Herdt. The supper after the dance will be a Hawaiian Luau-themed potluck. The lunch committee will provide dessert.

There will be square dance lessons from 1 to 2 before the dance. This series of lessons will finish the middle of February. Choral society seeks nominees for award

MARQUTTE, Mich. — Every year the Marquette Choral Society considers whether and to whom to present annual Upper Peninsula Choral Leadership Awards, launched in 1991 in celebration of its then twentieth anniversary.

The society invites nominations for this award, which must be submitted in writing and must show that the nominee has provided at least ten years of service to choral music in the Upper Peninsula (excellence in teaching, conducting, and/or support for quality choral music are all considered). Awards may be presented posthumously; no more than two awards per year can be granted.
