The West Shore Chorale prepares for its upcoming Christmas concert at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, to be presented Sunday night at 7 in the Herb Williams Theatre. Rehearsing with the Chorale are cellist Mary Ellen Kozak-Krawczyk and James Martell, pianist. The concert will be co-directed by current director Jane Wells and retired director and founder David Giebler. The program is entitled “Twinkle, Twinkle: A Constellation of Choral Music” and is unique in that all selections are on the theme of stars. The Christmas star of the nativity will be the theme of several works, including early American and Danish carols, the “Star Carol” by popular contemporary British composer John Rutter, and a work in the oratorio style by Felix Mendelssohn. Songs with words by poets Edgar Allan Poe and Robert Frost will also be featured. Again this year, the audience will be invited to sing “Silent Night” along with the choir in a special arrangement. Free will donations will be accepted. For more information on the concert and membership in the “communiversity” chorale, persons may contact Jane Wells at wellsj@uwgb.edu.
