MENOMINEE — The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is seeking new members. They will hold a meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Murray’s Irish Pub, 715 1st St. Interested students may attend this meeting.

The Youth Advisory Committee was formed in 1996 by the M&M Area Community Foundation. Each year the Community Foundation offers thousands of dollars in YAC grants to nonprofit organizations to fund programs and projects which support area youth. The Youth Field of Interest Fund held at the Foundation has awarded more than $360,000 in grants since its inception. Grants have been awarded to Crivitz School District for students to attend Camp Bird, Pembine Area Christians for their Christmas Wish Program, Tri-County Safe Harbor for Youth Advocacy and Menominee County Department of Health and Human Services for their Back To School Program, among others.

YAC members are students, ages 12 to 21, from across Marinette and Menominee Counties. In addition to awarding grants, members participate in volunteer projects and have an opportunity to attend workshops with like-minded youth. Two YAC members are also elected to the Board of Directors of the M&M Area Community Foundation with full voting rights and responsibilities.

Students may also contact Lead YAC Adviser Josh Jones at or 715-923-4409, or the MMACF office at 906-864-3599 for more information.
