MARINETTE — Northwoods Quilters Club of the tri-county area will have a meeting Monday at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 1947 Riverside Ave. The President’s Challenge is due this month. Quilt show chairmen will meet prior to the business meeting at 5.

At the January meeting, Barb Boettcher presented a program using the New York Beauty block made in an easy way to get sharp points. Members brought their projects from a class on using scraps to make half square triangles, a very versatile block used to make hundreds of different combinations to create quilts, wall hangings, table toppers, etc.

Two requests came in for quilts — Respite Care of Marinette and Menominee for their annual “All Things Chocolate” and baby quilts for Bay Area Pregnancy Services Inc. If people would like to request a quilt for a benefit, they may send a request to Northwoods Quilters Club, P.O. Box 658, Marinette, WI 54143.

The “SEW Creative” Quilt Show is April 27 and 28 to be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy, Marinette. The raffle quilt, made by Jinny Ruleau, is on display at Pine Street Quilts in Marinette. Raffle tickets may be purchased at Quilters Haven in Menominee, Pine Street Quilts or from any Northwoods Quilters member.

Northwoods Quilters Club is open to new members of all skill levels. People may attend two meetings before joining. The quilters have a Facebook page called MarinetteWI-Menominee, MI Northwoods Quilters. The club alternates morning and evening meetings to accommodate those with daytime jobs.
