MARINETTE — Marinette County Public Health received $6,000 and $1,500 grants from the Youth Field of Interest Endowed Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF).

Marinette County Public Health will use this grant to support Child Passenger Safety and Bike Helmet Safety. The Child Passenger Safety Program’s goal is to support Marinette County families so their children are safe in car seats. Grant funding will support efforts in providing free car seats for financially disadvantaged families, ensuring children are in the proper car seat for their age and size. Bike safety and properly fitted bike helmets can reduce injuries by 45%. Grant funding will support its goal of reducing unintentional injuries.

Marinette County Public Health is the lead agency for Safe Kids Marinette County Coalition, which was established in 2014. Bringing health and safety advocates together, coalition members include public health, law enforcement, firefighters, schools, child advocates and other community partners.
