MENOMINEE — The M&M Area Parkinson Support Group will meet Thursday at the Harbors Retirement Building, 1110 10th Ave.

As the group starts the new year, they will be introducing new awareness, education and resources available in the community and other close locations. Making the necessary changes to handle the daily challenges can be rewarding.

Each month a new area of Parkinson’s Disease will be addressed and the resources to help will be shared. Printed information is available at meetings. There is no charge for meetings or literature.

Dr. Paul Nausieda, one of the leading Neurologists in the field of Parkinson’s, says there are some new medications in the pipeline that seem to be most helpful.

Overview of the importance of diet and exercise is a major factor in the success of treating Parkinson’s Disease. Information about superfoods for brain health will be available.

Plans are being finalized for its annual symposium in April. More information will be available in the next couple of weeks. At the symposium, the newest information will be shared along with the opportunity to get answers to concerns.
