MARINETTE — Park Elementary School received $898 from the M&M Area Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Fund. The Philanthropy Fund was created specifically to support projects throughout Marinette and Menominee Counties that advance community well-being and stability including a “Pay It Forward” component to inspire charitable leadership.

In a press release given to the EagleHerald, Park staff said they will use this grant to support its dream of all children having books in their hands to love and cherish for a lifetime.

The book vending machine will offer new books to students at no charge.  The vending machine comes with gold coins that will be dispersed to teachers, educational associates and administrators in the school. They will give gold coins to students who show academic growth and/or meet personalized goals. The opportunity to choose books based on personal interests will create an enjoyable experience with reading.

Fundraising will be an ongoing effort to ensure the vending machine stays. If people would like to support this effort, they may contact Beverly Schewe at or call 715-735-2600.
