MENOMINEE — The Women’s Giving Circle of Marinette and Menominee counties, a committee of the M&M Area Community Foundation whose mission is to support local projects that are important to women and girls in Marinette and Menominee counties, will award more than $10,000 in grants at its annual meeting and fundraiser under the theme “Hats off to Women and Girls,” to be held at the UW-Marinette Café, Sept. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The group, which began in 2008 when an anonymous female donor made a gift to the foundation to support women’s philanthropy, is celebrating 10 years of supporting women and girls and the program, in addition to the awarding of the annual grants, will feature a presentation of the fifth Queen Marinette Award which recognizes a local woman who works toward creating a positive impact on the lives of women and girls and actively helps them achieve their personal and professional goals. Nominations for this award will be accepted until Sept. 1 and may be made online with a link available on the Giving Circle’s Facebook page at facebook.com/wgcmarinettemenominee.

There is a $5 per person suggested donation for the event and will include hors d’oeuvres, raffles and prizes. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite hat and bring a friend.
