PESHTIGO — UW-Madison, Extension of Marinette County, invites all gardeners and homeowners to a free plant pest clinic Saturday at the Harmony Arboretum demonstration gardens. This free event is offered in conjunction with the Northern Lights Master Gardener Volunteers’ Fall Plant Sale and is an opportunity to learn about management options for the myriad of pests showing up in lawns, gardens and landscapes at this time of the year.

Extension Horticulture Agent Scott Reuss will be on hand at the demonstration gardens from 9 a.m. to noon. Samples of the weeds, insects or diseases that are causing problems for plants or are just simply curiosities can be brought to the event for identification and/or diagnosis. Reuss will help people identify the issue and come up with a management plan to address the problem for the future. Samples from vegetable gardens, fruit trees or small fruits, perennial beds, lawns and trees are all welcome at this venue.

Accurate diagnosis of the insect, disease, stress event or weed that gardeners are dealing with is critical to being able to manage the problem and prevent significant damage to desirable plants. Extension publications that detail management options people can utilize to control and/or manage pests will also be available.

The plant sale will feature various perennials, houseplants and native plants for fall landscaping endeavors.

The Harmony Arboretum demonstration gardens are located on Marinette County Trunk E, one-half mile south of Highway 64, seven miles west of Marinette. All persons are welcome to attend this free event.

If people have any questions, they may contact Scott at the UW-Extension office, 715-732-7510, toll-free at 1-877-884-4408, or email to
