NIAGARA — Coats of Many Colors recently received a grant from the M&M Area Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Fund. The Philanthropy Fund was created specically to support projects throughout the Marinette and Menominee counties that advance community well-being and stability including a “Pay It Forward” component to inspire charitable leadership.

Coats of Many Colors will use this grant to support its fall project. The goal of this community volunteer, nonprot group is to provide winter outerwear (jackets, snow pants, boots, hats and gloves) to Niagara Public Schools children whose families are experiencing a nancial need. Families with children in grades K4-12 may apply. Coats of Many Colors has been an ongoing program for the past fourteen years. The project continues through a joint effort with community businesses, grants and private individuals.

“In our extreme Northeast Wisconsin climate, no child should wait for a school bus or go out for recess with inadequate winter outerwear. As a community program, we aim to remedy this issue,” said a press release from Coats of Many Colors.

The 2020 fall project will accept applications in early September. In keeping with a timeline, a deadline of early October is established for returning applications. The organization does the shopping, and timely, has winter outerwear ensembles ready to present to those students for the upcoming winter season.
