MARINETTE — University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, and Stephenson National Bank and Trust are offering an Estate Planning course Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the UWGB-Marinette Campus in room M-107 of the main building. The cost to participate is $29 and registration can be done online at https://www.uwgb.edu/continuing-education/marinette/continuing-professional-education/.

This class will navigate ways to avoid the chaos that could occur in families and businesses when an unexpected death or incapacity takes place. Planning for either instance doesn’t have to be a taboo or scary subject. This class will demystify wills, trusts and other steps to estate planning. SNBT financial experts will also explain about mistakes to avoid, the impact of taxes, and how often people should review their plan. This program is open to the public. Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer period, along with one-on-one time with a banker if desired.

The university is also offering a class on budgeting for small businesses Tuesday and Nov. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at UWGB-Marinette Campus in room M-107 of the main building. The cost to participate is $69 and registration can be done online at https://www.uwgb.edu/continuing-education/marinette/continuing-professional-education/.

Small business budgeting is a necessity for small businesses to survive. In this course, people will be walked through the steps to developing a working budget to keep business owners on track. People may learn how to review revenue and fixed costs and will learn about variable expenses and how they affect a bottom line. In addition, the instructor will also discuss how to set up a contingency fund and review a profit and loss statement. After you have completed this class. The instructor is Robin West of West Ventures, who specializes in accounting and bookkeeping for small businesses and not-for-profits.
