SILVER CLIFF — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 of Athelstane/Silver Cliff had their regular meeting Nov. 2 at the Silver Cliff Town Hall.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 served a Veterans Day Dinner after the meeting. All Post 66 members and other area Veterans are invited to the Wausaukee High School Monday at 9 a.m. for a Veterans Day Service.

In new business, Barb Van Boxtel and Alice Leurquin made Deer Hunters Bake Sale posters for area businesses. The bake sale is Nov. 21 at Firelane Bar from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Donations can be brought to the bar by noon. Cash donations are always welcome as well. All proceeds are used to buy gifts for patients at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Medical Facility in Iron Mountain, Mich.

In upcoming events, the Post/Unit 66 Christmas Party will be Dec. 7 at the Woods. All Post/Unit members are asked to bring a donation item to be given to the Iron Mountain VA facility. On Dec. 21, the Marinette County Council will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the American Legion and Auxiliary. There will be a celebration at the Amberg Town Hall at 10 a.m. All Posts/Units in Marinette County are invited to join in the celebration.

The “Collection for the Homeless” is ongoing. All toiletry items or other articles that can be distributed are acceptable. People may bring items to any meeting or contact Shorty Zindar or Dee Farley for more info.
