SILVER CLIFF — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66 met June 20 at the Silver Cliff Town Hall.

American Legion Post/Unit 66 Members discussed plans for the Sept. 26 Chili Fest. The Chili Fest will continue accordingly.

Unit 66 President Dee Farley presented the National Good Deed Award to Silver Cliff Firefighter Junior Member Dylan DeBauche. DeBauche received this award for his community service as an active four-year member of the Silver Cliff Fire Department.

The unit held an initiation ceremony for new members Bonnie Prah, Pam Mielke, Amy Vann and Jenny Rodgers. There was congratulations and welcoming to new members Rhonda Cassity, Vicki Farrell and Barb Tobison as well.

Each year Unit 66 sponsors the Poppy Poster Contest for area students. These are the winners for Unit 66 and the ninth district. Unit 66 has two department state Winners, Courtney Peterson and Anna James, who will be in the National Competition in August.

Members are asked to continue to collect hotel toiletries and other items for the homeless. This is an ongoing collection and any community member can collect as well. People may contact Dee Farley or Shorty Zindars for details.

The next scheduled meeting will be at 10 a.m., Aug. 1 at the Silver Cliff Picnic Area.
