Marinette County Sheriff Earl Wagner, left, and Coroner Kenneth Mattison use a metal detector in their search for evidence Saturday following a double slaying in McClintock Park in the Town of Silver Cliff. The victims were identified as David J. Schuldes, 25, and Ellen A. Mathys, 24; both of Green Bay. Miss Mathys' body was found about noon Saturday with two bullet wounds in the upper chest. The body of Schuldes, her fiance, was discovered about 2:30 p.m. Friday. He had been shot once in the base of neck.

An arrest has been made for a double homicide from 1976, according to Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.


The double homicide, involving David Schuldes and Ellen Mathys, happened July 9, 1976, in McClintock Park in the Town of Silver Cliff. More information about the arrest and ongoing investigation will be in Saturday's EagleHerald.
