Beverly “Babs” (Holub) Nerat, 89, the oldest descendant of the Nerat family, who was married to Harold Nerat (1929-1981) who’s parents were Ignace Nerat and Mary Laurich, holds Sabella Jean Unti, 24 days, the youngest descendant, who is the daughter of Erik and Jackie Unti and granddaughter of Terry and Darnece Unti. The family descendants of John Nerat (1864-1925) and Elizabeth Sam (1867-1946) held their 18th Nerat Family Reunion at Henes Park, Menominee, Aug. 10. The family members traveled from Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. John and Elizabeth were born in Recica, Austria, and entered the United States through Ellis Island. John and two sons sailed from France in 1903 for seven days on the “LaSavoie” and Elizabeth and daughter, Mary, sailed in 1905 on the “Serante” because of financial hardships. The Nerat family tree grew to eight children: Tom, John, Ignace, Frank, Martin, Floyd, Anton and Mary.
