Organization: Menominee American Legion Auxiliary

Amount: $1,000, one available

Requirements: A graduating senior, who must be a daughter/stepdaughter, son/stepson, grandson/stepgrandson, granddaughter/stepgranddaughter, sister/stepsister, brother/stepbrother of a veteran who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion. The applicant must be in their senior year of high school, resident of the State of Michigan, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Also, the applicant must show proof of acceptance to an institute of higher learning in the State of Michigan, or in a state that has a reciprocating agreement with Michigan. The Scholarship applicant will need two letters of  recommendation from adult citizens, other than relatives, attesting to the applicant’s character, an original essay summarizing an interview the applicant has conducted with a veteran, a list of organizations the applicant participates in, a summary of the applicant’s community service in the past 12 months, a certified transcript, or photocopy of the applicant’s high school grades, and a copy of the applicant’s letter of acceptance from an institute of higher education are all required. In addition, the completed application must be returned to the Menominee High School (MHS) Guidance Office, and will be judged by the Menominee American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 Scholarship committee, and the winning entrant will be announced at the MHS Senior Recognition Scholarship Ceremony.
