Awards revamped to include 4 categories

CRIVITZ — The Crivitz Business Association recently revamped their annual ‘persons of the year’ awards to include four categories: youth, adult, educator and business.

People who are interested in nominating someone from the greater Crivitz area, can visit Awards will be presented at the annual banquet in April, with honorees being notified prior to that time, so that friends and family can attend.

Reinke named vice chair of Federal Home

MARINETTE — John Reinke, a Marinette resident and Chairman of the board of directors for the Stephenson National Bank and Trust (SNBT), has been appointed to be vice chair of the board of directors of Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB).

FHLB, which is based in Chicago, is a wholesale, member-owned cooperative serving the district of Wisconsin and Illinois. In addition to his seat on the board of directors, Reinke is the chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee.

Reinke, a 40 year veteran of SNBT, has been recognized as an industry advocate and thought-leader who has served as the board chairman for Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA); chairman of the WBA Community Economic Development Committee; named the WBA representative on the American Bankers Association’s Government Relations Council Administrative Committee; was the recipient of the 1999 Ron Wipfli Person of the Year Award;  Bay Area Medical Center board member; University of Wisconsin-Marinette Foundation, Inc. president; Marinette Menominee Chamber of Commerce chairman; M&M Area Community Foundation president; M&M Area Great Lakes Sport Fishermen president; M&M YMCA president and Marinette County Revolving Loan Committee president.

Veriha awarded Best Fleet to Drive For

MARINETTE — On Jan. 30, the Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge honored 20 fleets with the 2018 Best Fleets to Drive For award. Veriha Trucking was one of the 20 fleets in North America to be honored.

“Being recognized as one of the 2018 Best Fleets to Drive For is humbling, but could not have been done without our drivers and team.” said Veriha President Karen Smerchek. “At the core of our values we focus on the development of programs to support our drivers and the teams that support them. The relationships and culture that we are building every day is unique and we are grateful to have such a strong team. This team is what makes this award possible.”

The individual fleet winner out of the initial 20 for 2018 will be announced on March 26 at the TCA Annual Convention in Kissimmee, Fla.
