MARINETTE — Fincantieri Marine Group announced Thursday that, following a six-year tenure as the company’s president and CEO, Francesco Valente intends to step down from the position to assume another leadership role within the Fincantieri group. As a result, the Italian shipbuilding company’s board has selected Dario Deste to assume the role of president and CEO.

Valente and Deste are reportedly working together to ensure a smooth transition, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Valente has been with Fincantieri since 2012, during which time the company acquired multiple commercial and government contracts and saw growth in employment and received several awards for safety.

Deste has been with Fincantieri for 11 years and has nearly 30 years of experience in the shipbuilding industry.
