Change is coming to M&O
PESHTIGO - Change is in the air for Wisconsin's oldest conference, the M&O.
In two years, the M&O will become a 10-team league for volleyball and basketball.
The WIAA Board of Control Dec. 6 voted 6-2 to add Oneida Nation to the M&O.
As is the case with Oneida, Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy has made the switch to eight-man football.
Peshtigo is mulling over the possibility of co-oping its boys' soccer team with the Marinette Marines. The Peshtigo School Board will act on that proposal at its January meeting.

Fast start after a slow beginning
EBEN JUNCTION, Mich. - The Menominee boys' basketball team overcame a long bus trip, a late start to the season and a hurried pre-game warmup to open its season with a convincing win Monday night.
After discovering tip-off was scheduled for 6 p.m. instead of 6:30, the Maroons made quick work of Superior Central (0-3) in a 68-40 victory.
Tyler Howell worked the inside for 10 points as the Maroons bolted out of the gate for a 21-9 lead after the first quarter.
Cody Maki's 3-pointer chipped the deficit to 26-15 but Devon Barley muscled in a putback. Maki drained another triple to trim the margin to 26-18.

Marines fall prey to No. 1
MARINETTE - Marinette at least succeeded in slowing down Wisconsin's No. 1-ranked boys' basketball team Tuesday night.
But Seymour was fine with that, and coasted to a 65-16 Bay Conference win.
The P.F. Neverman Gym was nearly full of fans watching for the usual assortment of spectacular dunks by Marquette recruit Sandy Cohen. The Marines held the 6-foot-5 Cohen to two points on 1 for 8 shooting, but he helped out with rebounding, passing and defense. He entered the night averaging 26 points per game and shooting about 80 percent from the field.
