The Coleman boys cross country team won the 2018 Marinette & Oconto Conference title; the Coleman girls team gave the Cougars a sweep by also claiming a title.

PEMBINE — Derek Hanson held-off Coleman’s top runners for the individual win but the Cougars were well ahead in the team standings.

Hanson gave Gillett the top individual finisher in Thursday’s Marinette & Oconto Conference boys meet, finishing in 16 minutes, 53 seconds and more than 40 seconds ahead of runner-up Kasey Casper (17:36.7), who led a trio of top-5 finishers for the Cougars. Caleb Gross (18:10) was third and Karson Casper (18:22.5) fourth for Coleman, which finished with 15 points for the overall win.

Crivitz (57) was second and Oneida Nation (66) was third in the team standings.

Coleman’s team score was completed by an 8th-place finish from Koltin Grysbowski (19:36.2) and a 10th-place finish from Seth Seefeldt (19:58.3). Bryce Karban (20:17.2) was 11th and Sam King (20:57.6) was 16th as the Cougars’ additional runners.

An individual top-10 finish eluded Crivitz but each of its five scored runners earned top 20s. Joey Pickett (20:24.8) was 13th; Jacob Behrendt (20:56.9) was 15th; Ryley Bemis (21:29.3) was 18th; Chad Schroeder (21:32.3) was 19th and Alec Grandaw (22:04.8) was 20th.

Gillett got top-10 finishes from two other runners. Riley Engebretsen (19:09.7) was sixth and Connor Hanson (19:24.5) was seventh. Cole Watts (27:34.9) was Gillett’s final finisher in 29th.

Wausaukee managed a top 5 with Andrew Schroeder’s (18:57.2) 5th-place finish. Peyton Betts (22:20.6) was 21st; David Forst (22:27.6) was 22nd and Danny Gottbeheut (23:48.2) was 24th. Cody Dellise (19:49.4) led Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy with a 9th-place finish; Kiko Cajigas (26:36.1) was 28th and Noah Chang (28:48.4) was 30th.
