MARINETTE - Niagara used a 20-point third quarter to handily defeat St. Thomas Aquinas Academy 57-31 on Thursday.

The Badgers, which held a 28-16 lead at the half, outscored STAA 20-4 in the third to comfortably put the game away.

Brooklyn Wolosyn was a one-person wrecking crew for Niagara (2-3 overall, 2-0 in the M&O Conference), finishing with a game-high 21 points.

Maria Miller had eight and Abby Bagnieschi added six points.

For the Cavalettes (1-3 overall, 0-2 in the M&O), Riley Schultz pounded out 15 points, most of which were in the lane, to lead the team. Taylor Wilson added 12.

Coleman 39, Gillett 13

COLEMAN - Behind a stout defensive effort and seven different players recording at least one basket, Coleman earned a decisive victory on Thursday.

The Cougars held Gillett scoreless in the first quarter and jumped out to a 17-4 halftime lead before coasting throughout the second half.

Tori Bushmaker and Abby Bieber led Coleman (2-2 overall, 2-0 in the M&O) with eight points a piece. Raena Chucka finished with seven and Hope Process added six.

The Tigers (1-4 overall, 1-1 in the M&O) were led by Kara Brennan with six points. Nicole Rotter added four points.

WAUSAUKEE - Peshtigo jumped out to a 36-3 lead at the half and dominated Wausaukee for a conference victory on Thursday.

The Bulldogs utilized a complete team effort and had nine players finish with at least one made basket.

Amanda Majewski paced Peshtigo (3-0 overall, 2-0 in the M&O) with 11 points. Ryleigh Klaver and Nicole Motkowski added 10 apiece and both Brittany Marquardt and Carly Dietrich finished with eight.

Wausaukee (0-4 overall, 0-2 in the M&O) had five girls score two points.

Peshtigo won the junior varsity game 41-14.

SURING - Suring rebounded from a tough loss earlier in the week to defeat Lena on Thursday.

The Eagles (2-1 overall, 1-1 in the M&O) held just a four-point lead at the half, but outscored the Wildcats (1-1 overall, 1-1 in the M&O) 17-5 in the third quarter to pull away.

Kelsey School and Breanna Tienor scored nine points apiece to lead Suring. Erin Fisher and Jacquelyn Lenz finished with six each.

Lena was paced by Melissa Bushmaker, who finished with a game-high 20 points. Kayla VanLanen added five.
