Man sent to prison on two charges
MARINETTE — A Green Bay man was sentenced to 18 months prison Friday in Marinette County Circuit Court Branch 2 for possession of an electric weapon and resisting or obstructing and officer.
Nicholas E. Gignac, 33, was also sentenced to six months extended supervision. He cannot enter any establishment whose primary purpose is the sale of alcohol; no possession or consumption of alcohol or drugs and must maintain full-time employment.
Two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and resisting or obstructing an officer were dismissed but read in.
Man sent to prison for burglary
MARINETTE — A Marinette man was sentenced to two years prison Monday in Marinette County Circuit Court Branch 1 for burglary to a building or dwelling and theft of movable property.
Geoffrey A. Hardy, 29, 2430 Mary St. Lot 104, was also sentenced to three years extended supervision and must pay a fine of $301.38.
Hardy must obtain or maintain full-time employment or part-time employment if enrolled in school; cannot have contact with victims, their families or properties; cannot contact co-defendants; must maintain absolute sobriety to include no possession, purchase or consumption of alcohol or controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician and then only according to physician’s orders and enter into, participate in and successfully complete any assessments, evaluations, treatment programs and/or counseling as directed by agent.
Charges that were dismissed but read in include: three counts of theft of movable property — less than $2,500; two counts of theft of movable property — $2,500 to $5,000; two counts of receiving stolen property and receiving or concealing stolen property.
MAPS to be closed for holidays
MENOMINEE — Menominee Area Public Schools buildings and offices will be closed Friday through Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas holiday.
The district office will open Friday, Dec. 27 and 28.
All classes will resume on Jan. 2.
Board of Public Works meeting canceled
MARINETTE — The Board of Public Works meeting normally scheduled for today has been canceled due to a lack of agenda items.
The next regular meeting of the Board of Public Works will be held on Jan. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers.
City hall closed on holidays
MENOMINEE — Menominee City offices will be closed on Monday and Jan. 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Trash pickup will not be affected.
