BAMC restricts visitors with flu symptoms

MARINETTE — Bay Area Medical Center (BAMC) is restricting visits from visitors who show symptoms of the flu including body aches, chills, cough, headache, runny nose and sore throat and persons younger than 16 years of age unless coming for treatment.

BAMC reminds visitors that people who are in the hospital are sick or recovering and need long periods to rest or to participate in procedures or therapies and catching the flu or other infectious illnesses can have a devastating effect on them as they are more susceptible, due to a lower resistance.

Before visiting, guests are urged to ask about the rules, in the best interests of both patient and visitor. For more information, contact John Hofer at 715-735-4200, ext. 3116, or jhofer@bamc.com.
