William J. Wazniak, 89, of Menominee, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Woodland Village Nursing Home in Gillette. He was born on October 16, 1927, to the late Martin and Rose (Fiecko) Wazniak in Menominee.
 William attended Menominee High School and went on to serve his country in the Army. Following service he worked for Ansul, retiring in 1987, after 35 years of service. On September 1, 1951, William married Mary Jane Fleury at St. Joseph’s Church in Marinette. He was a member of Resurrection Parish and the National Square Dancers and Campers Association. Through the organization, he created “Lady Bug” the clown and had enjoyed doing so for forty years. He also enjoyed mentoring a clown troupe at the DAR and working with 4H. William taught square dancing and was a caller for many years and also was the Marinette Downtown Santa for ten years. He enjoyed camping with his family, especially in the Garden Peninsula at Fayette State Park. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and pet owner to many dachshunds.
  William is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary of Menominee; his son, William Wazniak Jr. of Corona, Calif.; daughter, Jane (Keith) Cherry of Crivitz; three granddaughters: Charity (F.X.) Michot of Waukesha, Jennifer Cherry of Boston and Rose Cherry D.V.M. of Stillwater, Okla.; two great-granddaughters: Coralie and Olivia Michot. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Robert and sister, Sally.
    Visitation will be at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23. 4 to 6 p.m. 
  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors.
