Willard P. Frederiksen, 79, of Stephenson, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017, at Rennes Health Center East after a year of battling cancer. Willard Paul Frederiksen was born on May 29th, 1937, to Willard and Rose (Smaglick) Frederiksen.
        Willard graduated from Stephenson High School, Class of 1956. On June 22nd, 1957, Willard married Alice Saltz at St. Frederick’s Catholic Church in Daggett. They have been married for 59 years (60 this year). Willard worked in the trucking industry for 39 years, nine years at the Menominee County Road Commission, 20 years for Clairmont Transfer Co. and 10 years at Yellow Freight Systems. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson.  Willard was very active in the community for many years as a Stephenson Township Trustee for 44 years and a member of the Stephenson School Board. He enjoyed many hobbies including farming raising Hereford beef cattle, refurbishing and repairing cars and farm machinery, fishing, spending time at camp with his family and friends, and traveling the United States and Canada with a truck camper. After retiring from farming, he and his wife made their annual trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama, from January 1st to February 28th for 14 years. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, which brought him great happiness. He enjoyed having his grandchildren for the week or weekend to help him with farming chores. One of his greatest joys was when his son, Stephen, shot the tying basket to go into overtime to win the State Quarter Final, advancing to win the State Champion Title in 1981.
Willard is survived by his loving wife, Alice of Stephenson; his mother, Rose Frederiksen of Stephenson; daughter, Victoria Frederiksen of Stephenson; and son, Stephen (Jill) Frederiksen of Marinette; two grandchildren: Matthew and Rachel; one brother, Douglas (Mary) Frederiksen of Marinette; one sister, Karen Erickson of Menominee; and 13 nieces and nephews. He is further survived by two brothers-in-law: Ed (Lorraine) Saltz of Stephenson and John (Carol) Saltz of West Allis, Wis.; two sisters-in-law: Helen Raboin of Stephenson and Verna Doering of Milwaukee, Wis. Willard was preceded in death by his father, Willard John; three brothers: John “Jack,” Ronald and Leslie; one sister, Diane who was 2½ years old; brothers-in-law: Casey, Stanley, Ted and Willard Saltz, Francis Raboin and Roger Doering; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Walder.
Visitation for Willard will be held on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017, at Anderson-Diehm Funeral Home. Friends may gather after 3 p.m. until time of Vigil Prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, April 24th, 2017, at the funeral home, beginning at 10 a.m. until the Prayers of Transfer at 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson with Fr. Ron Timock officiating. 
Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
