Walter A. Kass, 87, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at the Menominee Care Center. Walter was born on October 14, 1925, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Nicholas and Mary (Roehl) Kass.
On July 11, 1951, Walter married the former LaVerne Johnson at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Walter proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Walter owned and operated his own farm in Birch Creek along with working at Lloyd Manufacturing. Walter retired from Anchor Coupling in 1988. Walter was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where he ushered for many years.
Walter is survived by his wife, LaVerne of Menominee, Mich.; son, Allen (Sharon) Kass of Menominee, Mich.; two daughters: Debbie (Gil) Garcia of Menominee, Mich. and Laurie Kass of Marquette, Mich.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marcella (Fran) Tebo of Menominee, Mich. Walter was preceded in death by his daughter, Patti; three brothers: Nicholas, John and Clarence; and one sister, Marion.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Kell Funeral Home on Monday, September 9, 2013 after 4 p.m. until time of Military Rites at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Ocran presiding.
Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery.
