Violet Genevieve LaLuzerne, 104 years young, formerly of Menominee, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Luther Home in Marinette, Wis. She was born on August 2, 1909, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Alfred and Ida (Thoune) Goffin.
Violet married Clarence LaLuzerne on September 26, 1933 at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson, Mich. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1972.
Violet was a member of the Resurrection Woman's Club, St. Anne Sodality, the Menominee County Historical Society, the Golden Age Club and she was a lifetime member of the Menominee Hospital Auxiliary.
Violet is survived by her son, William (Carol) LaLuzerne of Wallace, Mich; two daughters: Nancy (Robert) Pazdera of Menominee, Mich. and Bonita (Andrew) Hoffdahl of Stillwater, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Tammy Pazdera-Verkerke, Terri Patterson, Kelly McDonough, Gerry Hoffdahl, Alicia Pyle, Nicole Lenhart and Kevin LaLuzerne; 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Marge Wagner and Virginia Meyers. In addition to Violet's parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ronald; four brothers: Manuel, John, Robert and Calvin Goffin; and seven sisters: Eva Frederiksen, Gladys Heuser, Audrey Anderson, Sarah Lemke, Magdeline Nichols, June Goffin and Joyce Goffin.
Visitation will take place at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Birch Creek on Monday, April 21, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Violet G. LaLuzerne, following the visitation starting at 11 a.m. with Fr. Michael Ocran presiding. Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
Violets family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mantei for his long journey of dedicated care of their Mother. Also to all the employees of section D of the Luther Home for their wonderful hard work and care they have given her over the years. And to all the employees in the activities department, Violet loved to play bingo and we thank you for all you have done.
