Thomas Gregory Bertrand, 63, of Menominee, Mich., passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on June 11, 2013. He was born in Menominee on May 6, 1950, to the late Elmer and Ceil (Hornick) Bertrand.
Tom graduated from Menominee High School class of 1969. He served his country in the United States Navy with the Beachmaster Unit ONE during the Vietnam War. Tom married the former Diane Breault on June 6, 1970, at Resurrection Parish in Menominee. He worked at Tyco International (Ansul Co.) for over 38 years as a spinner, retiring in 2012. Tom was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was an avid outdoors person, enjoying hunting and fishing. Tom also liked woodworking. His most precious times were spent with his kids and grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane; his daughter, Sarah Bertrand-Spindler of Green Bay, Wis.; his son, Mark (Megan) Bertrand of Appleton, Wis.; three grandchildren: Presley Anne Spindler, Mason and Miles Bertrand; brother, Gerry Bertrand; sisters-in-law: JoAnn (Bob) Felch and Karen (Gary) Jenkins; brother-in-law, Frank "Whitey" Bretl; and many nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Visitation will take place at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home, on Sunday, June 16, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Vigil service will begin at 6 p.m. with Fr. Michael Chenier presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Tom Bertrand, on Monday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Chenier presiding.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, in Menominee with Military Honors performed by the Military Twenty Year Club.
Tom's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chakrabarti and his staff and Marquette General Home Health & Hospice for the wonderful care they provided at this most difficult of times.
A memorial fund has been established in Tom's name. Any expressions of sympathy and kindness can be directed to the Bay Area Cancer Care Center or a family member.
