Thelma "Bobbie" L. Schomer, 86, of Menominee, Mich., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 12, 2013. The former Thelma Louise Hamblen was born on January 11, 1927 in Marinette, Wis. to the late Amos and Alma (Jensen) Hamblen.
She graduated from Marinette High School. Bobbie married Robert W. Schomer. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was the secretary for the American Red Cross, serving the military, a job which she took great pride in doing. Bobbie also worked at Lauerman Brothers Store as a cashier. She and her husband moved to a hobby farm 35 years ago, raising horses, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, dogs and cats and they enjoyed watching the deer and bear come close to their house. Bobbie also liked gardening and planting flowers. One of her greatest gifts was her cooking and baking, which she loved.
Bobbie is survived by her children: Michael (Mary) Schomer, Patty Parrette, Richard  Schomer and Robin (Jean) Schomer; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Pearl Schuette and Jean Flood; and two brothers: Lavern (Judy) Hamblen and James (Carol) Hamblen. Along with her parents and her husband, Bobbie was preceded in death by two sisters: Bernice and June; and a brother, Howard.
Visitation will take place at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home TODAY, Monday, April 15, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The Vigil prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. with Deacon Vincent Beckley presiding.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Mich.
