Sister Muriel Demers

Sister Muriel Demers, 95, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. The former Idabelle Demers was born on September 23, 1917 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Arthur and Mabel (Ebsch) Demers.
She entered the Convent in 1933 and professed her vows in 1936. Sister Muriel earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Muriel served as a teacher at St. Joseph, Oneida, Immaculate Conception, DePere, Corpus Christi, Sturgeon Bay, St. John the Baptist, Seymour, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, all of Wisconsin; St. Ambrose, Ironwood, Holy Cross, Cross Village, St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, all of Michigan; St. Mary, Delaware, Ohio, Guardian Angels, West Point, Nebraska, St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii. After retiring from active ministry in 1989, she served in the Craft Room at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two sisters: Sister Humbeline Demers of Manitowoc, Louise Demers of Menominee, Mich.; and two brothers and one sister-in-law: Harlan Demers of Menominee, Mich. and Claude and Vivian Demers, Menominee, Mich; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Hilary Bezezinski, OSF with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
