Ruth I. Peterson, 80, of Porterfield, left this earthly life to join her husband, Irvin, in Heaven on Monday, October 14, 2013, at Rennes Health Center-West in Peshtigo. She was born March 19, 1933, in Menominee, Mich. to William and Dorothy (Skog) Trehey.
Ruth spent most of her early life in Stephenson, Mich. and attended the Longrie School. She married Irvin E. Peterson on November 4, 1950, and had since resided in Porterfield. Ruth loved her family, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed baking and cooking with them. Her Irish heritage was very important to her and she took great pride in it. As a homemaker she enjoyed gardening and canning and was always ready to take a ride up north.
Ruth is survived by four children: Butch (Theresa) Peterson, Debra (Michael) Ferdon, Darcy Diercks (special friend, Todd Hermes) and Corky (Sue) Peterson, all of this area; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Gerry, Lylene, Betty and Katie; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin, on January 3, 2013; and sisters and brothers: Gen, Joe, Dorothy, Margaret, Warren and William.
Friends may call at Community Lutheran Church in McAllister from 4 until 6 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday in the church with the Rev. Paul Hueter officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
