Rose E. Nelson, 100, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Thursday morning, April 24, 2014, at the Menominee Care Center with her family present. The former Rose Elizabeth Brendemihl was born in Ingallston Township on April 1, 1914, to the late Frank and Louise (Kapell) Brendemihl.
On August 31, 1941, Rose married Gunnard Nelson at her home in Ingallston Township. He preceded her in death October 4, 1967. In her early years she worked as a housekeeper in Blue Island and Winnetka, Ill. Rose later moved to the Menominee area and worked as a housekeeper until her marriage. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and especially her daily tea times with her neighbor and very good friend, Mary. Rose has been a faithful member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Menominee since 1949.
Survivors include one son, Ronald (Kathleen) Nelson of Menominee, Mich., two grandsons: Kyle Nelson of West Allis, Wis., Brent (Stacy) Nelson of Kissimmee, Fla.; and brother, Harry Brendemihl of Menominee, Mich. Rose was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral service for Rose will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Kell Funeral Home, of Menominee. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the service hour. Reverend Lee Goodwin officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Menominee, Mich.
